Good evening bandmates !
Tomorrow will be the start of our September holidays, please be reminded that we will be attending the concert next Tuesday, and band pracs on next Thursday and Friday. For those who are planning to go overseas over the November and December holidays, these are the dates that we will be having breaks :
16th - 23rd November 7th - 14th December If you are going overseas, please do try to book your trips on the dates stated. Lastly, drink plenty of water and rest over the holidays, hydrate yourself so that you do not fall sick! (: P/S: Do remember to complete your homework too! -CARINSIM. |

Hi band.
this will most probably be my last post in this blog T.T haha! well, congratulations to the new exco members . All the best and bring the band to greater heights! A brand new start for all of you! (: As u guys can see from ur current drum major , band major and secretary's post , i am sure they are ready to lead the band~!! But inorder for that to happen, members, please co-operate wif them so that the band will continue to move on. (: i believe u guys can do it! Well .. Band, after 1 year of leading the band wif Syazani and Shi Xiang, i have really learn alot from all of you. And i am glad that i can take the chance to know all of u well. (: Though we faced alot of challenges and difficulties, esp. this year SYF , i am glad that we managed to overcome all the obstacles. Now, after reading all the post that i have been posting from the start of the day when i got my secretary post till today, it brings back nostalgic memories. Those memories are PRICELESS. I noe that band is a very hectic CCA whereby there are many practices a week but most of u turned up! it lightens my work eventually. ^^ thanks guys for all of ur understandings! Through out the mini syf which is over afew weeks ago, i am sure that have taught us a lesson that without practising and having full attendance for every practice, we cannot get things done. Although the Sec 4s and 5s have already stepped down, but i am sure they will be willing to help the band. If anyone of you have any problems about band , please feel free to look for them instead of avoiding the problem until the problem gets worse. I noe every year, someone will surely have problems but could not find a solution to it. Not only band, haha! Studies are important too! Do pay attention in class and hand in all ur homeworks on time and score well for ur exams! To Joel, Pei Leng and Carin, Now u guys have taken over the band, do help one another in improving and maintaining the standard of the band :D "impossible situations can become possible miracles" DONT STOP BELIEVING! :D ONE BAND!!!!! Gd'morning awesome bandmates! Congratulations to those who got their post. And yes, this is just the beginning, we should really start working extra hard from today onwards. We've come so far so yeah, don't let anyone down. At first I was thinking, 'Why me, why chose me to be the Drum major? Can I even make it? omg. It can't possibily be me'. But right now, this important role has been assigned to me and I've got no other choice but to take up the challenge and even strive harder to keep the band as one, and of course maintaining the band's standards of discipline, responsibilty and teamwork. In order to achieve these, I must first change myself. My attitude, my character and my behaviour. This includes everyone in the band alright! Without you guys, the band can't even work. So we are all equally important. Be it what post you got, remember that we're in this together and we're all equal. I strongly believe that Teamwork is the key that makes everything possible. Know when to work and when to play. When you make a mistake, learn from it and change it. As we all know, it's not an easy task balancing well between Band &studies, I'm very sure that if you face any difficulties, the teachers ,our conductors, our lovely alumni and our dear seniors are very willing to help! Whatever people say/do, don't let anything affect you nor bring you down. Just like what our Band major, Peileng said, 'Take it positively!'. There's always room for improvement so what for wasting our time gettin angry/upset over what people said. Prove to them that we can make it! I know this is not easy. Step by step, put in your best and we'll get what we deserve one day. Band is not all about gettin the perfect results, it's the process that we've been working hard for and what we enjoyed that actually made us stronger. Believe in yourself that you can do it! Good evening band!
To become the band major of Yuying Concert Band is a wonderful opportunity for me. However, I fully understand that this job would not be easy to accomplish. Being in a band is not an easy feat, it requires commitment, discipline, resilience and teamwork. There would be times you would think of giving up, yet we should all learn to commit ourselves and not back out whenever troubles come. Band has plenty of practices and long practice hours, and we need to manage our time properly for our school work and personal life. During Saturday practices, I would sometimes feel 'Why am I here when all my friends are all at home sleeping?' However, when I see all our teachers and conductors doing their upmost effort to groom us, to teach us, all the hours I've been in band are worth the time and efforts spent. We need to improve on our discipline, to do that, we first need to have teamwork. When we are working together as a band, we could improve ourselves by accomplishing more achievements and overcome more obstacles rather then the band staying at a level or the standards may fall. Our goal now is to maintain or better our achievements, when we all work together as a band ,we would definitely be able to fulfill the goals. Whenever we receive criticism, we should take it positively, and further improve ourselves because there will never be a stage where we are perfect. Believe in yourselves! Good evening Band! Firstly, Congratulations to the new Excos! And as you all know, the Sec4s & 5s will go for their O levels & N levels break, So we must not be so dependent of them. Also, being in the band requires a lot of commitment and resilience, at times when you feel like 'why am I here suffering?' , think about why you joined band in the first place, it may be because you want to be with your friends, or that you wanted to learn music. Whatever the reason may be, I'm sure everyone of us have developed the feelings for band music and your instruments. Because everyone of us are capable of doing what the seniors and alumni have been through. Do not let yourself have the feeling of regret when you give up. Some of you may think that having to go for sectionals and practices are time consuming. But think again, why does some people play better than the others? It is not because they are smarter, it is because they practice more than the others. Do not give yourself a reason to quit, but give yourself a reason to continue. As a band, We often have to work hard together to achieve a common goal, this is where teamwork is important. Do not let words of discouragement like 'Band is a waste of time.' put you down. Let's aim to have discipline better than any other CCA, good attendance and most importantly, GOOD ATTITUDE! Your attitude towards things most of the time determines the end product. When Mr Faizal and Mr Phua scold you, do not take it personally. Always reflect on your mistakes and change for the better! Endure and enjoy through every process, your feeling of achievement will be sweeter and better than anything could be.
Lastly, You guys must also maintain your studies. Do not let others have a chance to criticise yourself and our band. Remember, ONE BAND, ONE SOUND!  Good night ! - Carin. |

HELLO BAND!
sorry one last announcement! (: i think u guys have already receive the msg. (: Temasek Junior College Symphonic Band is presenting their annual concert prelude 31. It will be held in NUS, Yong Siew Toh Concert Hall, on next Saturday 21/5/11, 6pm. Prices for the stall seats will be $12 and the circle seats will be $15. They will be playing : The colours of tali, terra vulcania, hitomi wo tojite , invictus and more. Tian Fu will be playing and he hopes to see Yuying Band Members there! GO SUPPORT! :D Those who are going, SL take note of the number of people going and report to me or the Majors. Thank You and have a great day ahead (: HONGXING :D |

HELLO BAND!
Sorry for not posting for more than 1 month? I hope u guys are doing well ^^ and hope u guys will do well for MYE. Just a reminder, speech day will be in July and there will be band prac after MYE i suppose. All this band prac will focus on the investiture which will fall in June as well as the Speech Day . All the Sousa march songs and other slow march songs. Sec 4s please teach the younger ones all these marches as they have never experience how speech day is like due to the 100th anniversary celebration last year in the Esplanade. Alright most of u have ur last paper tomorrow. All the best! And we will see each other next week? (: Okay take care my fellow band mates! drink lots of water and study hard! ONE BAND! ONE SOUND! SYF is over. I am glad that every single one of u treated it positively! I know its hard to accept it at first but through the things that i see in facebook, i am really proud of u guys! As for the sec 2/3s , this is not the end of your music journey, for the sec 2/3s, u still have marching next year and for the sec 2s will be 2013 SYF!. and to all, DONT GIVE UP ON MUSIC! :D Yuying Concert Band Memories of Friendship will still continue :D and our friendship will never fade ^^.
